March Update

Lockington-cum-Hemington Parish Council and Hemington Hammers Football Club are excited to announce, that after months of 'behind the scenes' work we have been successful in our bid to secure monies from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, namely the Community Ownership Fund, to allow the Sports and Community Pavilion to march on to completion.

When we launched the project, we promised that the new Pavilion would be built for the community without raising any money from our parishioners; we have honoured that promise despite the project being thwarted by many setbacks including the pandemic and the resulting escalation in the cost of building materials. We have already raised over £500,000 and with this grant, plus our remaining funds and commitments of support we believe we have enough funding to complete the project this year.

To get to where we are we have been supported by many companies and corporations in our region, and more recently with the help of local businesses carrying out works with delayed billing. We are grateful for the support of these companies. We are also grateful to all those individuals and organisations who wrote letters of support for our bid. Finally, we would like to acknowledge the great support we have had from Hemington Hammers Football Club on this journey so far and all the hard work by Andy Bennett in helping us put together a successful application.

Over the coming months, we will keep you informed of build progress.

It is our intention that we will have a fantastic Sports and Community Pavilion which the whole area will be proud to call their own for generations to come.
